Five Tips for Increasing Sales Online and Offline

In an ever more competitive on and offline landscape, it’s difficult to grow sales without a strategy. Whether you’re starting out or want to grow your brand, find out how to increase sales sustainably. All it takes is communication and confidence.

  1. Build brand awareness
  2. Sell yourself & your brand
  3. Ask questions
  4. ‘Bee‘ sales-focused
  5. Remove barriers

Shout about it

At beefound.agency, we’re firm believers in the phrase, “doing business without advertising is like winking in the dark”. The good news is that you don’t need to spend thousands on ad campaigns. To increase sales, start with your social media profiles.

This is a free and easy way to communicate with customers at scale. They’re also far more personal, helping to instill trust in your brand. You can play with creative, experiment with advertising budgets, or message people directly all from one platform.

Sell yourself

Self-confidence doesn’t always come easily, but if you know your product is better than the rest, you should be able to say so. A little market research may help to identify what makes your product unique. Is it faster? Smaller? Cheaper? Home in on what makes your product or service stand out in all your communications.

Likewise, be authentic in your language. Don’t just sell the features of the product – these may lure in the customer initially but will seldom lead to conversions.

Always ask questions

Remember, you’re selling to the customer – it’s all about them. Whether you’re sat in a pitch meeting or asking them to fill out a contact form, the right questions will help you to boost sales. Consider asking them about their pain points. What’s inconveniencing them? What’s stopping them from getting what they want? What problems do they need to solve?

Once they’re at the consideration stage, they need to know how the product will benefit them, so talk about how the product will help. Let’s say you have a customer with sensitive skin. “Enriched with aloe vera” tells us nothing. “Enriched with aloe vera to reduce inflammation and combat acne” is far more contextual.

This is especially important for increasing small business sales. By tailoring your product or service with a personalised touch, you may be able to offer more than a larger competitor.

‘Bee’ sales-focused in all that you do

This is especially important for those who work in an office. ‘Bee’-ing sales-focused is pretty self-explanatory if you’re in a brick and mortar store, but in the office, anybody could pick up the phone!

You never know when a new enquiry may come in, so equip all of your staff teams with a basic level of knowledge around your product or service. Accounting, reception, even HR – make sure you have an approachable first point of contact who can communicate confidently with customers, and know where to pass the enquiry on.

Improve sales by removing barriers

This will help to improve your sales online and offline. Let’s say a new customer lands on your website homepage. How easily can they navigate to information about your services? Beyond that page, is it easy to get to a contact form? Test your user journey by trying to make a transaction or enquiry live. You could also look at drop-off points in Google Analytics.

Alternatively, try a little A/B testing. For example, you may find that displaying prices helps or hinders your sales – some studies suggest that being transparent increases conversions, but it all depends on your industry.

If you’re dealing with customers face to face, you can increase sales simply by improving your shop front, or allowing customers to talk to sales staff easily. Remove any physical obstacles and draw them in with bold designs – then it’s up to the sales team to work their magic.

For best results, combine your physical presence with an online one. An e-commerce website is fantastic for increasing sales and measuring the effectiveness of your marketing.
